Mechanical Maintenance Engineer 

Day Shift position | Newcastle-upon-Tyne | Up to 42k plus 5% bonus & 5% pension

Jackson Hogg are delighted to be supporting our client based in Newcaslte with the appointment of a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join them on a permanent basis. This role will work in the on-site manufacturing operational team. 

Job Description

• To manage the maintenance and operation of the site engineering infrastructure and associated services ensuring compliance with statutory/regulatory and safety
• Suggest improvements/ updates to Preventive Maintenance.
• The completion of routine maintenance and organization of critical replacement components, including planned overhauls and repairs in a timely, cost effective manner.
• Build quality into all repairs and modifications during engineering works carried out as part of The Facilities process.
• To provide guidance / support in fault finding /problem solving diagnosis to rectify machine breakdowns and performance problems.
• To respond to breakdown situations in a timely manner in to minimise production downtime and maximise production and efficiency.
• To install and commission new plant and equipment so that the requirements of the site capital investment plans and delivery targets are met.

Skills Required

• Knowledge of safe working practices e.g. Lock & Tag Out (LOTO), Risk Assessment & Method Statements (RAMS) etc.
• Time served Engineer, with a four-year apprenticeship in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
• Previous manufacturing experience ideally food, pharma or packaging
