About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and inspiring leader to oversee our Future Choices programme and play a key role in the development of Alternative Provision at Right2Work.  Both roles are based in Kendal, supporting adults, young people and children with SEND, SEMH and additional needs.

This varied role combines leadership, programme development and hands-on delivery. You will lead and support a small team, deliver engaging, person-centred learning programmes, build effective relationships/partnerships with families, schools and external agencies, and create opportunities that help learners develop confidence, independence and positive future pathways.

We're looking for someone who is positive, proactive and committed to inclusion; a strong communicator and leader who believes in people's potential and is passionate about helping learners overcome barriers and achieve meaningful outcomes.

About Future Choices

Future Choices is a personal development programme for adults with SEND, helping learners develop the confidence, independence and life skills needed to achieve their goals and play an active role in their communities. Through practical, real-life learning experiences, we support wellbeing, community participation, employability, self-advocacy and personal growth, enabling learners to lead more independent and fulfilling lives.

About Alternative Provision

Our Alternative Provision will support young people with SEMH, SEND and other barriers to education through personalised learning and a Preparing for Adulthood approach, helping learners re-engage, build resilience and achieve positive outcomes. We will focus on creating a supportive and inclusive environment where every young person is encouraged to develop their confidence, independence and skills for the future.

Essential Experience & Skills

• Experience leading education, alternative provision or specialist learning programmes.
• Experience supporting people with SEND, SEMH or additional needs.
• Experience leading, mentoring or supervising staff.
• Knowledge of person-centred, inclusive and trauma-informed approaches.
• Experience monitoring learner progress and achieving positive outcomes.
• Strong communication, partnership-working and organisational skills.
• Understanding of safeguarding, wellbeing and positive behaviour support.
• A commitment to helping learners overcome barriers and achieve their potential.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

• Teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, HLTA Level 4 or equivalent).
• Knowledge of EHCPs, SEND processes and multi-agency working.

What Success Looks Like

As Future Choices & Alternative Provision Lead, you will help create services where learners:

• Feel valued, safe and included.
• Build confidence and resilience.
• Develop practical life and employability skills.
• Become active members of their communities.
• Explore meaningful future opportunities.
• Gain greater independence and self-advocacy skills.
• Re-engage with learning and education.
• Overcome barriers and achieve positive outcomes.
• Recognise and celebrate their own progress and achievements.
