Job Role

The Test Technician is responsible for the daily testing and verification of products within the Production department, ensuring all activities comply with company procedures, Health & Safety regulations, and environmental standards. The role supports the achievement of production targets by ensuring product quality and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct testing of products in line with predefined Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs).
  • Program and verify PCB assemblies with the correct software revisions.
  • Carry out and set up electrical soak testing where required.
  • Verify incoming pre-programmed PCB assemblies for accuracy and revision control.
  • Support the development and improvement of new and existing test equipment.
  • Review and proofread test procedures (ATP/PATP) before release to production.
  • Validate test equipment and setups prior to production use.
  • Identify and communicate any issues or risks to the Testing Supervisor or Production Manager promptly.
  • Work closely with all departments to ensure smooth production flow and adherence to schedules.
  • Support other production areas as required to ensure efficient delivery of products.
  • Apply and promote Lean Manufacturing techniques where appropriate.
  • Deputise for the Testing Supervisor when required.
  • Undertake additional duties as directed by management.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years'' experience in a production testing environment.
  • Experience working with small batch, high-mix production environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Familiarity with SMD components and electronic assemblies.
  • Experience using test equipment such as power supplies, multimeters, and oscilloscopes.
  • Working knowledge of programming tools (e.g., MPLAB, SEGGER).
  • Understanding of quality standards such as ISO9001 and AS9100D.
  • Proficient in PC use, including Microsoft Office and ERP systems.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 GCSEs (Grade A-C), including Maths and English (or equivalent).
  • City & Guilds, HNC, or equivalent qualification in Electronics (preferred).
  • Relevant experience in an electronics or manufacturing environment.
  • Willingness to undertake further training where required.

Temp to Perm Contract

Hours: Monday to Thursday 07.30-16.30, Friday 07.30-12.30
