Proven experience in financial management, accounting, or finance leadership, preferably within a non-profit or charitable organisation.Demonstrable knowledge of budgeting, financial reporting, and grant management.Strong understanding of fundraising principles and experience in securing funding from grants, sponsorships, or donations.Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.Excellent organisational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.Leadership experience, with the ability to manage and motivate volunteers.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with funders, partners, and team members.Commitment to the values of inclusivity, community engagement, and support for LGBTQ+ causes.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a volunteer-led environment.What will you be doing?
The Head of Finance and Fundraising is a vital voluntary role responsible for the strategic oversight and management of Salford Pride’s financial affairs, fundraising activities, and grant applications. This position leads the financial planning, budgeting, accounting, and reporting processes while driving initiatives to secure sustainable funding through sponsorships, grants, and partnerships. The role manages finance-related volunteers and works closely with the Committee Lead to ensure financial integrity and transparency. All major financial decisions and fundraising strategies require final approval from the Board.Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership and oversight of all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions, working closely with the Bookkeeper and finance volunteers.Oversee preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.Liaise with external accountants or auditors to support annual audits and financial reviews.Develop and maintain robust financial policies, procedures, and controls in collaboration with the Board and Treasurer.Ensure timely payment of invoices and manage accounts payable and receivable processes.Lead the development and implementation of fundraising strategies to support Salford Pride’s activities and sustainability.Research and identify new funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, and partnerships.Oversee the preparation and submission of grant applications and funding bids, ensuring compliance with deadlines and funder requirements.Manage relationships with funders and sponsors, providing regular updates and fulfilling reporting obligations.Support the Board of Trustees in delivering bid pitches and presentations to potential funders.Monitor and evaluate the success of fundraising initiatives, providing feedback and recommendations for improvement.Manage and mentor finance and fundraising volunteers, fostering a collaborative and efficient working environment.Work closely with the Committee Lead, Treasurer, and Board of Trustees to align financial and fundraising goals with organisational priorities.Ensure transparent communication of financial and fundraising matters to stakeholders, maintaining trust and accountability.Employment type
