Working closely with operational teams and senior management, you will play a key role in ensuring the highest standards of health, safety and environmental performance across the business.

With a strong reputation for operational excellence and environmental responsibility, the business operates a busy processing facility and vehicle fleet serving commercial, construction and public sector customers across the South East.

As part of its continued growth and commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance, the business is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Supervisor to support and enhance its health, safety and environmental management systems.


Description

The Health & Safety Supervisor will play a key role in promoting a proactive safety culture across the organisation. Working closely with operational, transport and management teams, you will help ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies and industry best practice while driving continuous improvement in health and safety performance.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a hands-on health and safety professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced operational environment and influencing positive behavioural change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the company''s Health & Safety Management System.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits and workplace assessments, identifying risks and recommending corrective actions.
  • Assist in the preparation, review and communication of risk assessments, safe systems of work and method statements.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses, identifying root causes and ensuring effective corrective actions are implemented.
  • Monitor compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation and company procedures.
  • Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings and training sessions to employees and contractors.
  • Support managers and supervisors in maintaining safe working practices across site operations and transport activities.
  • Maintain health and safety records, reports and documentation.
  • Assist with regulatory inspections, customer audits and certification requirements.
  • Monitor contractor activities and ensure adherence to site safety standards.
  • Promote a positive and proactive safety culture through engagement with employees at all levels.
  • Support environmental compliance initiatives and sustainability objectives.

Profile

The successful Health & Safety Supervisor candidate will have proven experience within a health and safety role in an industrial, recycling, waste management, logistics, manufacturing or construction environment.

You will also possess:

  • Experience conducting risk assessments and incident investigations.
  • Strong understanding of UK health and safety legislation.
  • Experience carrying out workplace audits and inspections.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organisational and administrative abilities.
  • Ability to influence and engage operational teams effectively.
  • Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Full UK driving licence.


Desirable

  • IOSH Membership or working towards professional status.
  • Environmental management experience.
  • Experience within waste management, recycling, transport or heavy industry.
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
