Stores & Dispatch Operative (Warehouse/Trade Counter/Driver)

About us:

Somerset Solders Ltd supplies soldering, ESD, fume extraction and calibration products through Somerset Solders, and workwear, PPE and personalised uniforms through Somerset Workwear. Our customers range from electronics manufacturers and engineering firms to schools and laboratories across the UK, Europe and overseas.

We are looking for an organised, IT-literate Stores Operative with good attention to detail to run goods in and dispatch at our Radstock site in Somerset. You will be able to work autonomously as well as part of the team.

Key responsibilities:

• Book in deliveries, check quantities and condition, and raise any discrepancies.
• Keep stock accurate and locations organised, and support regular stock counts.
• Pick, pack and dispatch orders for both brands, following our scan verification process.
• Prepare UK courier consignments and support export shipments.
• Resolve stock, product and shipping errors in our warehouse management system.
• Order packaging and consumables from approved suppliers.
• Serve trade counter customers and make local deliveries in the company van.
• Act as a site Fire Marshal and First Aider, carrying out scheduled call point, fire alarm and first aid kit checks. Training is provided.

About you:

Essential

• Experience in a warehouse, stores or dispatch role.
• Experience of a warehouse management system, or strong IT skills and the confidence to learn new systems quickly.
• Excellent attention to detail and pride in getting things right first time.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Reliable, organised and happy to help across a small team.

Desirable 

• Courier booking or export shipping experience.
• A current First Aid or Fire Marshal certificate.
• Experience of working to ISO 9001 procedures.
