Are you an experienced Quality Engineer with a strong mechanical engineering background?

We are recruiting on behalf of an established engineering business looking to add an experienced Quality Engineer to an already strong quality team.

This is a hands-on engineering quality position, so we are particularly interested in candidates who are confident interpreting complex engineering drawings, understand manufacturing and inspection processes, and enjoy solving quality issues rather than working purely within QMS.

The Role

As Quality Engineer, you will work closely with manufacturing, customers and suppliers to maintain and improve quality standards across the business.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Interpreting complex mechanical engineering drawings and determining appropriate inspection methods

• Liaising directly with customers and suppliers on quality-related issues

• Managing non-conformances and customer complaints using 8D and 5 Why methodologies

• Producing inspection reports and customer documentation packs

• Supporting manufacturing teams with quality and inspection requirements

• Training operators in inspection techniques and equipment

• Supporting calibration of measurement and test equipment

• Carrying out system, process and supplier audits

• Creating Quality Control Plans for customer projects

• Identifying and implementing improvements to quality and inspection processes

• Translating customer quality requirements into clear manufacturing instructions

What We''re Looking For

We are looking for somebody with genuine engineering quality experience who is comfortable working within a manufacturing environment.

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous experience as a Quality Engineer or within a closely related engineering quality role

• Strong knowledge of GD&T

• Excellent ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings

• Knowledge of engineering inspection and measurement techniques

• Experience dealing with customers and suppliers

• Experience investigating quality issues and completing root-cause analysis

• A mechanical engineering background

• Good communication and problem-solving skills

• A stable employment history and a genuine interest in developing with the business

A Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship would be advantageous.

Experience programming CMMs, particularly PC-DMIS, would also be beneficial but is not essential. The business operates a Hexagon S Chrome CMM with tactile and laser heads.
