Highways Services Technician
We are seeking a proactive and dedicated Utilities Services Technician to join our client''s team in Surrey. This role plays a vital part in supporting highway maintenance operations by helping to prevent utility service strikes, promoting safety on-site, and ensuring effective planning around existing infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Carry out utility surveys across designated sites, identifying underground and overhead services Advise operational teams on safe excavation techniques and service avoidance measures Support teams in tracing, locating, and managing buried and visible utility assets Liaise with contractors, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure best practice and safety compliance Keep detailed and accurate records of all findings, utility data, and any interventions Contribute to risk assessments and method statements related to utility works Provide updates and reports to supervisors and project managers as required Skills and Experience Previous experience in utilities, civil engineering, highways, or a related field (preferred) Strong understanding of service avoidance and health and safety requirements Ability to read and interpret utility drawings and digital mapping systems Good communication skills and confidence working with a range of stakeholders Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to record-keeping Relevant training or certifications (e.g., CAT and Genny, NRSWA) beneficial but not essential For more info
