Project Manager
Location: Gloucester, Gloucestershire
Job Type: Permanent
Salary: Up to -65,000, potentially -70,000 for an exceptional candidate
Working Pattern: Hybrid, typically 3 to 4 days on site per week
Managed complex aerospace or defence engineering projects? Know how to get products from development into production without everything going off the rails?
We''re working with a rapidly growing advanced manufacturing business developing innovative technologies and lightweight structures for demanding aerospace and defence applications.
They''re looking for an experienced Project Manager who understands the realities of delivering complex engineering and manufacturing programmes, particularly where new technologies, demanding customers and tight deadlines come together.
This isn''t simply a case of updating project plans and chasing progress reports. You''ll take ownership of technically challenging projects, working closely with engineering, manufacturing and commercial teams to ensure programmes are delivered on time, within budget and to the required standards.
What you''ll be doing:
-
Managing engineering and manufacturing projects from initial planning through to delivery.
-
Developing and maintaining project schedules, milestones, budgets and resource plans.
-
Leading projects through industrialisation, new product introduction and production readiness.
-
Acting as the main point of contact for customers and internal stakeholders.
-
Identifying project risks, managing changes and resolving issues before they impact delivery.
-
Coordinating Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality and Supply Chain teams.
-
Monitoring project costs, reporting progress and ensuring commercial objectives are achieved.
-
Supporting improvements to project management processes and reporting.
What we''re looking for:
-
Proven project management experience within the aerospace or defence industry.
-
Strong background managing complex engineering, manufacturing or technical hardware projects.
-
Experience taking products or technologies through development, industrialisation and into manufacture.
-
Ability to manage multiple projects, competing deadlines and demanding customer expectations.
-
Good commercial understanding of project budgets, risk management and change control.
-
Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
-
Confident using Microsoft Project, Excel and other project management tools.
Experience with advanced composites, aerospace manufacturing, AS9100 or new product introduction would be particularly useful.
Project management qualifications such as APM, PRINCE2 or PMP would be advantageous, although practical delivery experience is what really matters.
What''s on offer?
-
Salary up to -65,000, with flexibility to -70,000 for an exceptional candidate.
-
Hybrid working, typically 3 to 4 days per week on site.
-
Private medical insurance.
-
Employee share options.
-
Company pension scheme.
-
Opportunity to work on innovative aerospace and defence engineering programmes.
-
Genuine scope to influence project delivery and grow with an expanding manufacturing business.
The bottom line?
If you''re an aerospace or defence Project Manager who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems and actually delivering engineering projects rather than just reporting on them, this is worth a conversation.
