Head of System Modelling and Mission Analysis (SMMA)

As the Head of System Modelling and Mission Analysis (SMMA), you will lead our SMMA department, focused on the design, analysis, and performance assessment of our Prime and Proxima launch vehicles.

This role is instrumental in driving end-to-end system simulation and mission-level analysis across our satellite, launch vehicle, and interplanetary mission portfolios. You will lead a multidisciplinary team of systems engineers, simulation architects, and mission analysts to develop models, perform trade studies, and deliver insights that shape the future of space exploration and operations.

The Position ResponsibilitiesAs the Head of System Modelling and Mission Analysis, you will:

Oversee the development of integrated physics-based and functional models for launch systems and ground support equipment.

Lead mission analysis activities, including trajectory design, orbital mechanics, and operational constraints, with accountability for Flight Safety Analysis.

Apply system models and mission analysis to support trade studies, design decisions, and optimization of mission parameters.

Establish and maintain advanced modelling toolchains, develop standards, and enforce VandV processes.

Key StakeholdersInterface with internal teams (systems integration, GNC, propulsion, structures, avionics, mission operations) and external partners (customers, mission agencies).

Required Experience

Significant experience in space systems engineering, mission analysis, or aerospace simulation, with leadership roles.

Expertise in trajectory optimization, orbital mechanics, or mission planning.

Proven track record in model development, MBSE, and mission simulation for space platforms.

Preferred Experience

Master’s or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Astrodynamics, Physics, or related fields.

Deep understanding of space system design and lifecycle.

Knowledge of environmental considerations and involvement in government or commercial space programs.

Technical expertise in space system modelling and mission analysis tools.

Ability to analyze trade spaces and optimize system performance.

Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
