Sr. Data Scientist, GenAI Algorithms (Based in Dubai)talabat, the leading on-demand food and Q-commerce app for everyday deliveries, is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to advance our platform with intelligent data-driven decisions. You will own a domain across product and business, work with product and business managers, and collaborate with data scientists and data engineers to improve decisions through data)

Many initiatives will focus on leveraging Generative AI for data enrichment, smart content understanding, and automated decision-making to enhance user experiences and business operations.

Responsibilities

Leverage ambiguous business problems as opportunities to drive objective criteria using data.

Solve complex business problems using appropriate algorithms to deliver business value.

Design and implement effective and impactful machine learning and generative AI systems in production.

Develop a deep understanding of the product experiences and business processes within your area of focus.

Familiarize with source data and generating systems through documentation, collaboration with engineering teams, and data profiling.

Contribute to the design and maintenance of data models that measure performance and identify drivers.

Work with product and business teams to identify questions that can be answered with data.

Deliver well-formed, relevant, reliable, and actionable insights to support data-driven decision-making through analysis and automated reports.

Design, plan, and analyze experiments (A/B and multivariate).

Support product and business managers with KPI design and goal setting.

Mentor other data scientists in their growth journeys.

Contribute to improving ways of working, tooling, and internal training programs.

Qualifications

Experience in machine learning, generative AI, deep learning, recommendation systems, data mining, and AI.

Deep knowledge of ML/GenAI frameworks (e.g., Scikit-learn, XGBoost, LightGBM, CatBoost, SVMs, Keras, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers, LLM fine-tuning).

Excellent SQL and competence with reproducible data analysis using Python or R.

Strong data modeling and dimensional design, with a focus on the full data lifecycle from problem formulation to storytelling.

Familiarity with product data (impressions, events, etc.) and product health metrics (conversion, engagement, retention).

Experience with LLMs and NLP-based solutions for data enrichment and smart automation is a plus.

Familiarity with BigQuery and Google Cloud Platform is a plus.

Data engineering and data pipeline development experience (e.g., via Airflow) is a plus.

Bachelor''s degree in engineering, computer science, technology, or related field; postgraduate degree is a plus but not required.

4+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, and Gen AI.

Experience in online consumer product settings is a plus.

Strong problem-solving, collaboration, communication, ownership, and a keep-it-simple mindset.
