Senior Quantity Surveyor on a Permanent basis based in Heathrow.
Please note this is a hybrid model of work, 3 days in the office and 2 days at home
Job Overview
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will have full commercial responsibility for allocated projects, ensuring delivery is aligned with project requirements, company standards, and all legislative and client obligations. You will manage all commercial aspects of the project lifecycle, from initiation through to final account and payment, while driving value, mitigating risk, and maintaining strong client and subcontractor relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development of a validated project budget aligned with delivery objectives.
- Prepare and manage monthly forecasts for both client and internal reporting.
- Maintain positive cash flow and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
- Review and challenge monthly cost and sales reports with the Project QS.
- Identify and mitigate commercial and compliance risks, including cost overruns.
- Develop and maintain a costed risk and opportunity schedule.
- Ensure impact programmes accompany all quotations.
- Administer NEC4 Option C contracts in full, ensuring compliance with all timelines and requirements.
- Prepare, submit, and agree compensation event quotations in line with target cost management.
- Oversee change management processes, ensuring variations are captured and documented.
- Build and maintain professional working relationships with client QS representatives.
- Produce and manage earned value analysis (EVA) for design and construction phases.
- Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors, providing guidance and delegating responsibilities.
Competencies
- Encourages a collaborative, ethical, and high-performing team environment.
- Clear and confident communicator, both written and verbal, able to adapt style to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts.
- Capable of independently measuring and pricing Mechanical, Electrical, Fire & Communications systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with an understanding of BIM/CAD. Strong knowledge of EPDS and PJT compliance.
Credentials
- Minimum 3 years as a Senior QS, with clear progression. Extensive Tier 2 M&E subcontractor experience essential.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent)
