Consultant / Senior Consultant - Industrialised Design and Construction

Overview
We are seeking a Consultant / Senior Consultant in Industrialised Design and Construction (IDC) to join our IDC team. This role is for someone with hands-on experience in Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) and Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), who is passionate about driving innovation and digital transformation in the built environment. You may be recently chartered or working towards professional accreditation with a recognised body (e.g., ICE, IStructE, IMechE, IET, CIAT, CIBSE, CIOB, RICS, RIBA). This role offers the chance to shape the future of construction delivery across major infrastructure programmes.
We lead in adopting and implementing IDC, helping clients achieve improved productivity, cost efficiency, and certainty across the Built Environment. Our team works across Buildings (Healthcare, Education, Cities), Water and Environment, and Nuclear projects.As an IDC advisor, you will work with clients, design teams, manufacturers, and contractors to embed DfMA, MMC, and platform-based approaches into projects and programmes.
Responsibilities
Support the development and implementation of IDC strategies across client portfolios and programmes, contributing to measurable improvements in delivery efficiency and consistencyApply DfMA and MMC principles to optimise design, delivery, and operational outcomes—demonstrating value through improved constructability, reduced waste, or enhanced programme certaintyContribute to standardised tools, methods, and delivery models to embed repeatable, scalable solutions across projectsAssist in developing IDC metrics and performance indicators for data-driven decision-making and continuous improvementSupport creation of case studies, lessons learned, and a library of IDC approaches for knowledge sharingEngage in capacity-building activities, including mentoring and internal knowledge sharingCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate IDC principles from concept to completionContribute to the development of digital tools and data models to support industrialised deliveryParticipate in client workshops, stakeholder engagement, and delivery assurance activities

Essential
Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or equivalentWorking towards or recently achieved chartership with a recognised professional bodyExperience applying DfMA, MMC, or platform-based approachesStrong communication and collaboration skillsSelf-motivated, accountable, and able to work independently or in a multidisciplinary teamProactive, curious mindset with willingness to learn and challenge the status quoUnderstanding of the RIBA Plan of Work (or equivalents) and its application to deliveryExperience across different sectors including Buildings, Water and Environment and/or Transport infrastructure
Desirable
Experience with systems engineering and requirements management toolsProficiency in digital delivery and supporting DfMA implementationsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a strategic mindsetLean principles and logistics knowledgeUnderstanding of supply chain ecosystems for industrialised constructionAwareness of manufacturing and assembly processes to inform designFamiliarity with tools such as Power BI, Revit, or parametric design platformsProfessional certifications or memberships (e.g., Lean Construction Institute, BuildingSMART) are a plusWillingness to support wider initiatives within Mott MacDonald and advisory services sales
