About Our School

Located in Dunstable, approximately 2 miles from the M1, our school offers a safe and supportive environment for pupils aged 5-18.

Role Responsibilities

• Mentor and support one pupil or a small group of no more than six pupils
• Maintain an awareness of the EHCPs for pupils in your care and support the meeting and evaluation of targets
• Support the classroom teacher during lessons
• Report on pupils' progress and concerns, liaising with other school staff to ensure pupils' needs are met
• Supervise pupils during times outside lessons, including extra-curricular activities and school trips
• Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation
• Set work where appropriate and undertake marking
• Build positive relationships with your pupils and drive interaction and positive learning outcomes

Requirements

• Have a strong basic education, ideally to A Level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, and sound IT skills
• Be flexible and demonstrate a growth mindset
• Previous experience in a similar role, such as a Teaching Assistant
• Previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an educational setting
• Be experienced and confident in taking additional responsibility within an area of the school, such as food hygiene, Forest School, lunchtimes or school yoga
• Experience of behaviour-management strategies and techniques
• A commitment to professional development and willingness to learn

The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check, the cost of which will be met by Polaris Education.
