Overview

Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust require 1 dynamic and forward-thinking Consultant to join the Gastroenterology team. This post will be based at the University Hospital Lewisham (UHL) site: one of two acute sites operated by the Trust, with the other being Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) in Woolwich. We are currently looking for 1 Consultant Gastroenterologist. One with a specialist interest in IBD; the sub-speciality for the second can be explored more flexibly and we would invite anyone interested to contact our department for a friendly conversation around this. The post is a 10 PA appointment, with the post-holder expected to undertake 2 endoscopy lists and clinics each week, while participating in in-patient ward work reviewing acute Gastroenterology admissions. The post holder will also participate in the on-call GI Bleed rota.The Gastroenterology Department at UHL consists of 6 Consultants, 2 Registrars, a Specialist Doctor and three specialist nurses (IBD and viral hepatitis). The establishment at the QEH site includes 6 Consultants, 2 Specialist Registrars, 3 Clinical Fellows and 3 specialist nurses with responsibilities for IBD, viral hepatitis and endoscopy. A number of specialist Gastroenterology services have been established at the Trust including ERCP, oesophageal physiology, capsule endoscopy and fibro scanning.
