Our client is looking for an experienced Plant Fitter to maintain and repair fixed and mobile plant equipment at their Waste Transfer Station and Materials Recovery Facility (MRF). The role involves carrying out planned maintenance, responding to breakdowns, diagnosing faults, and completing repairs to keep the site operating safely and efficiently. Key Responsibilities Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM). Diagnose faults and repair plant machinery to minimise downtime. Maintain conveyors, screens, trommels, motors, gearboxes, bearings, belts and hydraulic systems. Service and repair mobile plant, including loading shovels, excavators, shredders and site vehicles. Carry out minor repairs to HGV operating equipment. Complete welding, fabrication and mechanical repairs where required. Inspect equipment and replace worn or damaged components. Maintain accurate maintenance records. Support continuous improvements to plant reliability and performance. Work closely with the operations team to ensure minimal disruption. Carry out minor repairs to site buildings and infrastructure. Follow all health and safety procedures and wear the appropriate PPE. Participate in overtime or on-call duties when required. Essential Requirements NVQ Level 3, City and Guilds, or equivalent mechanical engineering qualification.
