in their search for a permanent

Information Governance and Compliance Officer . This is an excellent opportunity to play a senior role within a dedicated Data Protection and Compliance team, ensuring best practice and supporting the organisation''s mission through high-quality advice and guidance.In this varied role, you will act as a senior member of the team, providing advice and guidance on information governance and data protection matters, while quality assuring the work of colleagues. You will be involved in project and programme activity, including supporting the implementation of new technology platforms, and will lead on Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and other compliance processes. You will also provide practical support and training to staff at all levels, ensuring the organisation remains compliant with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, PECR and other relevant legislation.Given the nature of the organisation''s work, safeguarding and children''s data protection will be central to your role. You will bring expertise in applying the ICO''s Children''s Code and sector-specific marketing guidance, ensuring personal data is processed in a way that upholds children''s rights and meets strict compliance standards. You will also play an important part in reviewing sensitive disclosure requests, handling complex data rights cases, and embedding a culture of safeguarding and accountability across the organisation.The successful candidate will have strong experience in data protection, information governance and compliance. You will bring a detailed knowledge of wider data protection policy and be confident advising on complex matters, with the ability to support both business-as-usual and project-based work. Experience in the charity sector or with data protection relating to children will be highly advantageous. A proactive, organised and collaborative professional, you will be able to work with stakeholders across the organisation and contribute to the continuous improvement of policies and practices.Job Details

Act as a senior member of the Data Protection and Compliance team, providing advice and guidance.Undertake quality assurance of team outputs, ensuring accuracy and compliance.Provide organisation-wide advice on data protection and information governance matters.Conduct and review Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).Contribute to project and programme activity, including supporting updates to technology platforms.Support the delivery of training and awareness sessions across the organisation.Advise on children''s data protection matters, including application of the ICO''s Children''s Code and related guidance.Respond appropriately to sensitive disclosure requests and data subject rights cases.Keep up to date with changes in data protection law, safeguarding guidance and best practice, disseminating knowledge as required.Candidate Profile

Strong background in data protection, information governance and compliance.Experience advising on wider data protection policy and applying legislation in practice.Specialist knowledge of data protection relating to children (including ICO guidance) and/or the charity sector.Experience supporting projects and programmes on data protection and governance.Skilled in conducting and reviewing DPIAs.Excellent communication skills with the ability to advise and influence at all levels.Well-organised, detail-focused and able to manage competing priorities.Why Apply?
