Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

to take ownership of complex, high-integrity design projects that support global defence and civil aviation programmes.This is a technically senior role with real influence. You’ll be responsible for full lifecycle mechanical design, from initial concepts through to final delivery, on a range of mission-critical products used in airborne environments.The OpportunityYou’ll work on the development of aerospace systems, leading design activity and supporting the wider engineering team. Expect a fast-paced, collaborative environment where your expertise will directly shape high-performance solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver detailed mechanical designs using 2D/3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred)Conduct FEA and CFD simulations to validate performance and structural integrityAct as Lead Engineer on key projects, with responsibility for cost, schedule, and qualityProduce engineering documentation and drawings in line with BS8888 and ISO standardsProvide technical guidance to junior engineers and drive continuous improvementSupport legacy product upgrades, tooling improvements, and obsolescence managementAbout YouDegree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline)8 years’ experience in aerospace or defence engineeringChartered Engineer status (or working towards)Proven track record of delivering mechanical design solutions through the full product lifecycleStrong understanding of materials, finishes, and environmental factorsConfident using simulation tools (FEA/CFD) to influence and validate designsComfortable leading projects and working cross-functionally in a multi-disciplinary teamDesirable ExperienceKnowledge of composite materials and manufacturing techniquesSolidWorks CAD proficiencyFamiliarity with requirements management and project engineeringThis is a chance to join a high-performing engineering team that takes pride in technical excellence, problem-solving, and precision.
