All About the Role

Based at Goodman Steel, Reading site. We have a dual role available for a Class 2 Driver who will also work in the warehouse as often as required. When driving, the role will be a multi-drop role where you will carry out driving and related duties ensuring the safe carriage and delivery of steel goods.  The hours of work are Monday to Friday 08:30am to 5pm, plus overtime when required.

Specific tasks include:

• To check the load security & weight distribution according to latest safe working practices at the beginning and end of each shift.
• Ensures vehicles are in safe condition, with daily checks correctly completed before use, & are operated in a safe manner.
• To oversee the safe unloading of vehicles at customer premises and delivering excellent Customer Service.
• Ensuring Proof of Delivery documents are signed, dated & returned without delay
• Pick computer generated orders with repetitive handling/lifting of heavy and large item.
• Transferring stock to its location using manual handling, forklift trucks and cranes.
• Assisting in the overall production and dispatch of customers’ orders
• Ensure all documentation is correctly actioned for accuracy of stock
• Always adhering to all health and safety regulations, on and off site

Essential Skills for the role: 

• Class 2 License with less than 6 points
• Own a Driver CPC & Digital Taco Card
• Ideally you will already have experience in a busy warehouse using forklift trucks 
• Builds strong relationships quickly & holds excellent communications skills 
• Organised & methodical in your approach
• A health & safety champion
