Your Company:A growing and well-established contractor is seeking an Mechanical Estimator to join their team, based in the Hampshire area.Your Role and ResponsibilitiesWhile in this position your duties may include but are not limited to: Preparing and submitting competitive tenders and quotations, typically ranging from £100k to £2m+, in line with client requirementsCalculating accurate job costs, including time, labour and materials for complex and bespoke contractsManaging and assisting with the preparation of pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQs) for larger tendersNegotiating effective and commercially sound cost settlements for projectsAnalysing contract documentation and preparing detailed sub-contractor enquiry and pricing packagesLiaising and negotiating with sub-contractors and key suppliers to ensure best value and competitivenessMeeting with clients to clarify design requirements and explain the basis of estimates when requiredCarrying out drawing take-offs and preparing schedules of rates from drawings and bills of quantitiesIdentifying contractual, financial, technical and operational risks, while highlighting opportunities to maximise gross profitManaging and prioritising your own workload while maintaining accurate tender records What you will need to Apply: Strong commercial awareness with a proactive and problem-solving mindsetExcellent negotiation skills and the ability to communicate clearly at all levelsGood IT skills, particularly Excel and WordA highly
