The Role And Key ResponsibilitiesThis is a client-facing role in which you will work with customers across various sectors undertaking development activities within their field. You’ll translate complex ideas into non-technical concepts for a broad client base. Responsibilities include:
Undertaking the technical assessment of claims and drafting compelling technical summaries for HMRC submission.
Identifying qualifying RandD projects and expenditures through technical discussions with clients.
Ensuring RandD claims meet the relevant tax legislation and guidelines; you will receive in-house training on tax matters through a comprehensive induction and training programme.
Liaising with technical tax staff on the preparation of RandD claim documents for HMRC submission.
Supporting RandD Tax Relief claims during HMRC enquiries.
Continuously developing your own knowledge and skills to keep technical knowledge up to date.
Collaborating with senior technical staff across client sectors and developing technical reports and extensive client communications; supporting business development opportunities and cross-sector claims.
Key Skills And QualificationsWe’re committed to growing our people. The candidate will typically have:
A recognised university degree (BSc/BEng, MSc/MEng, and/or PhD) in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
Industry experience as an engineer, scientist or technical professional with good sector knowledge.
Experience as an RandD practitioner with knowledge of RandD in the Built Environment (Construction, Infrastructure, Architecture, Engineering sectors).
Ability to tackle technological challenges such as engineering design, construction process development or improvement of structures and systems.
Excellent communication skills and a strong interest in science, technology and innovation.
Ability to adapt to and learn about different industry sectors beyond civil/mechanical (e.g., software, manufacturing, defence, electronics).
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to present information clearly and concisely.
Strong attention to detail, numerical ability and familiarity with tax treatment.
Proactive, collaborative team player with the ability to work on own initiative.
Professional appearance, trustworthiness and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Willingness to travel to clients’ premises and other offices as needed.
