We are recruiting on behalf of an established M&E contractor looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join their growing team in Surrey.

The business specialises in delivering high-quality mechanical and electrical installations across the commercial building services sector, with a particular focus on commercial CAT A/CAT B fit-out, laboratory refurbishments and life sciences projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Project Manager looking to join a well-established contractor with a varied portfolio of technically challenging projects and opportunities for long-term career progression.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for delivering mechanical packages from pre-construction and design development through installation, commissioning and final handover.

As Mechanical Project Manager, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of mechanical building services projects, managing programme, procurement, technical coordination, subcontractors and commercial performance.

You will work closely with the client, design consultants, commercial team and site management to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.

The position will involve managing projects across commercial fit-out and laboratory environments, requiring strong technical knowledge and the ability to coordinate complex mechanical installations.

• Manage mechanical projects from pre-construction through to completion and handover

• Oversee mechanical installations including HVAC, pipework, plant rooms, ventilation and associated building services

• Manage Mechanical Site Managers, Supervisors and specialist subcontractors

• Develop and manage project programmes, key milestones and short-term lookaheads

• Lead mechanical design coordination and technical reviews

• Manage technical submittals, RFIs, design queries and value engineering

• Coordinate mechanical services with electrical, architectural and other specialist packages

• Manage procurement, materials and long-lead equipment

• Monitor project budgets, variations and commercial performance alongside the commercial team

• Attend and lead client, consultant and subcontractor meetings

• Ensure installations meet project specifications, quality standards and relevant regulations

• Manage project risks and resolve technical or programme issues

• Oversee QA documentation, testing and commissioning

• Manage snagging, O&M documentation and final project handover

• Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with Health & Safety requirements

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager with a strong background in M&E building services and a proven track record delivering commercial projects.

Ideally, you will have:

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Manager within an M&E contractor

• Strong experience delivering commercial CAT A/CAT B fit-out or refurbishment projects

• Previous laboratory, pharmaceutical or life sciences project experience would be highly advantageous

• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, pipework, ventilation and mechanical plant

• Experience managing projects from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover

• Good understanding of mechanical design, technical submittals, RFIs and procurement

• Experience managing mechanical subcontractors and site teams

• Strong programme management and commercial awareness

• Excellent client-facing and communication skills

• Relevant Mechanical Engineering or Building Services qualification

• SMSTS or equivalent preferred

• -85,000 basic salary
