Job Title: Sales Estimator
Location: Leicester
Salary: £35,000
Job Type: Permanent, full time
Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and commercially minded Sales Estimator to join our client’s team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for potential projects, products, or services, supporting the sales team in securing new business and maintaining profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse tender documents, specifications, drawings, and other project information to prepare accurate cost estimates.
- Collaborate with the sales and technical teams to fully understand client requirements.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain up-to-date pricing and availability of materials and services.
- Prepare and submit quotations and proposals within set deadlines.
- Follow up on quotations with clients to support conversion and gather feedback.
- Monitor and review the performance of estimates against actual costs to improve future accuracy.
- Maintain an organised and up-to-date database of estimates, supplier costs, and project documentation.
- Support the sales team with technical information and commercial insight during client meetings or negotiations.
- Identify potential risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving measures.
- Producing quotations based on client’s specification.
- Issuing jobs to the programmer and buyer
- Specifying tooling, processes, Jigs and fixtures.
- Creating routings and BOMs on the client’s system.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Proven experience in a similar estimating or sales support role, ideally within sheet metal
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with estimating software is an advantage.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
- Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Desirable:
- Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Knowledge of industry-specific regulations, materials, and pricing trends.
- Experience in client-facing roles or working within a sales environment.
Working Hours & Salary:
- 8:00-17:00 Mon-Thurs and 8-14:30 on Fridays
- £35,000 DOE
- 28 days including BH
- Holiday loyalty scheme
