Location: Trowbridge
Contract: Full-time or part-time, day-to-day cover, long-term placements, with some temp-to-perm opportunities
Pay: £89-£100 per day (inc. of holiday pay)
The Role
We are seeking enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to support children and young people with complex needs in Trowbridge. This role involves working with students who have a range of disabilities, some are non-verbal, some use alternative methods of communication. Personal care will also form a part of your responsibilities. There are opportunities to work with a wide range of age groups.
You will work as part of a supportive school team to ensure all pupils can access learning, build positive relationships, and develop essential life skills in a safe and nurturing environment.
Main Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with complex needs
Assist with personal care and daily routines
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other school staff
Essential Criteria:
Experience supporting children or young people with disabilities or complex needs
Willingness to assist with personal care
Patience, empathy, and resilience
Flexibility and ability to think on your feet
Desirable Criteria:
Knowledge of alternative communication methods (e.g. PECS, Makaton)
Previous experience in a school or care setting
Full driving licence and own transport

Vetting
Five Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. Applicants will undergo checks including reference and TRA checks. If you do not have a non-voluntary enhanced DBS on the update service, a new DBS will need to be processed at a cost of £62.70, refunded after 20 days of work and once registered to the update service.
