We are delighted to be recruiting for a Principal Electronic Warfare Scientist / Engineer at our client''s site in Malvern, Worcestershire, where you will have the opportunity to work with advanced Radio Frequency (RF) Electronic Warfare technologies alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry.
The Role
As a Principal Electronic Warfare Scientist / Engineer, you will provide technical leadership in electronic warfare research and development, helping to shape the development of next-generation sensing systems that operate in complex and contested electromagnetic environments.
You will join a team of around forty scientists and engineers. Day-to-day, operating largely autonomously, you will lead and deliver complex research and development projects, guide multi-disciplinary teams, work closely with defence customers, and drive innovation in RF sensing, signal processing and system performance.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Working directly with customers to understand requirements and deliver high-impact outcomes
- Providing technical leadership across electronic warfare projects
- Leading research, development and delivery of advanced RF sensing and signal processing solutions
- Coaching and mentoring engineers and scientists within the team
- Driving innovation and maintaining high technical standards
- Supporting business development and future capability growth
- Deep expertise in electronic warfare / surveillance, including algorithms / techniques, associated signal processing and system knowledge
- Understanding of RF transmitters, and how system parameters drive performance of the electronic warfare system
- Experience leading complex technical projects and multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience technically leading large, complex bids for research and development programmes, driving business development
- Experience working with defence customers or in regulated, mission-critical environments
- High level presentation and report writing skills
Previous experience of some of the following depending on particular specialism:
- Detailed knowledge of techniques such as trilateration, time and frequency difference of arrival
- Developing and analysing algorithms using MATLAB and/or Python
- Signal processing (e.g. filtering, spectral analysis)
- Applied use of machine learning / AI
- Direction finding antenna
- Radar backend processing and algorithm research
- Controlled software development
- Undertaking / running trials, trial data analysis and performance assessment
- Complex problem solving
- Working with defence customers and suppliers
- Degree in Science or Engineering or a nationally recognised equivalent
- Significant post-graduate industry or research experience
