Redefine Power Market Modeling. Shape Global Energy Strategy.
Are you ready to take the lead on solving the most complex challenges facing the global energy grid?

A leading global research and analytics firm is seeking a Principal Power Market Modeler to drive the transformation of its power market forecasting capabilities. This is a rare opportunity to own the design and development of next generation simulation models that directly influence billion dollar investment decisions across major markets in Europe, Japan, and potentially the United States.

As a technical leader at the forefront of the energy transition, you''ll design cutting edge modeling solutions, mentor a high performing team, and work with some of the most influential players in the global power and utilities space.

What You''ll Do:

  • Reimagine power forecasting. Lead the vision and execution of an advanced power market simulation model using linear and mixed integer programming techniques.
  • Inspire and lead. Manage and grow a talented team of data scientists and energy modelers, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
  • Tackle critical system challenges. Model and optimise complex dispatch and capacity expansion problems in modern interconnected grids.
  • Drive technical innovation. Leverage industry leading solvers such as Gurobi, MOSEK, or HiGIS to build scalable, production grade tools.
  • Translate insight into impact. Communicate technical solutions and modeling outputs in clear, strategic terms to cross functional stakeholders.

What You''ll Bring:

  • Extensive modeling experience. At least 5 years developing power market models using linear optimization, with a strong grasp of market dynamics.
  • Leadership track record. 3+ years of people management, with proven experience building and guiding high performing technical teams.
  • Domain expertise. In depth knowledge of European and or Japanese power markets is required; familiarity with U.S. markets such as PJM, ERCOT, or CAISO is a plus.
  • Strong technical skills. Advanced proficiency in Python and experience using LP MIP solvers for complex modeling challenges.
  • Academic background. A Master''s or PhD in Operations Research, Engineering, Economics, Data Science, or a similar quantitative discipline is preferred.

Why This Role?

This is a rare opportunity to step into a high impact leadership role within a globally respected organisation committed to accelerating the energy transition. You''ll work at the intersection of market fundamentals, policy, and advanced analytics solving real world problems with lasting significance.
