There are two posts available one based at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital and one based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, part of University Hospitals Birmingham NHS FoundationUniversity Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) is the leading university teaching hospital in the West Midlands, serving a regional, national and international population. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established and proactive Consultant Radiologist team to respond to the need of our growing service. The imaging department at UHB has expanded to more than 90 consultants working across all 4 main hospital sites. The attached job description and person specification contains more detail about the post and imaging department with example job plan.These posts are based at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital. These are principally Head and Neck Radiology posts involving cross sectional reporting, Ultrasound of the Head and Neck incorporating FNA and Core biopsy and contribution to a regional tertiary centre Head and Neck MDT. There will also be an acute imaging/Duty Radiology and on call component to the job.About us

KEY SKILLSThe timetable of activities will be agreed with the Clinical Director of Radiology before taking up the post. The job plan may be altered in future in consultation with radiological colleagues, the CSL of Diagnostic Radiology BHH/QE and the subspecialty lead. This will be a 10 PA job plan including 2 SPA and out of normal working hours on call commitment.This is principally a Head and Neck Radiology post involving cross sectional reporting, Ultrasound of the Head and Neck incorporating FNA and Core biopsy and contribution to a regional tertiary centre Head and Neck MDT. There will also be an acute imaging/Duty Radiology and On Call component to the job.The successful candidate will also be expected to take an active part in the training of Specialist Registrars on their rotation through the Departments.The Trust has successfully introduced radiographer skill-mix in a number of areas including, I.V. contrast injections. Supervision of radiographer extended roles may be required.The normal working day in Imaging may be extended to improve the speed of delivery of the service and maximise the efficient use of the equipment. The appointee may be expected to perform a limited number of sessions in the evenings or weekends together with other radiological colleagues.A home workstation will be issued for on call provision.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESThis is a full time post and incorporates 8 PAs of direct patient care based on a 10 PA contract. Flexibility in association with service needs will be required on a weekly basis in line with an annualised hours framework. The appointee will support clinical colleagues in offering a comprehensive imaging service for the trust and our patients.This is principally a Head and Neck Radiology post involving Cross Sectional Reporting, Ultrasound of the Head and Neck incorporating FNA and Core biopsy and MDT involvement. There will also be an Acute Imaging/Duty Radiology component to the job.The timetable of activities will be agreed with the Clinical Director of Radiology before taking up the post.Person Specification

Qualifications

*Full GMC Registration*Evidence of Continuing Professional Development including CME*RCR Fellowship or equivalent*Subspecialty training in Head and Neck Radiology.Disclosure and Barring Service Check
