This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Underwriter to join a respected team, playing a key role in assessing and managing complex risks while supporting international growth and collaboration.RESPONSIBILITIESReview and underwrite new business based on risk assessment and market dataNegotiate terms with brokers and clients to optimise profitabilityEnsure all underwriting decisions follow internal policies and proceduresWork closely with global teams to align processes and maintain documentationSupport junior underwriters through knowledge sharing and peer reviewsUphold compliance standards and contribute to regulatory requirementsStrengthen and maintain broker and client relationshipsContribute to business planning and new product developmentCollaborate with internal teams (Actuarial, Legal, Compliance, etc.)Promote brand presence through marketing and relationship-building effortsEXPERIENCE10+ years in underwriting or related insurance experience, preferably in Construction and EngineeringProgressing toward or holding CII qualificationStrong understanding of underwriting practices and market dynamicsDAY-TO-DAYAssess incoming proposals and issue underwriting decisionsCommunicate with brokers to negotiate terms and manage expectationsMaintain accurate documentation and risk filesAttend meetings with cross-functional and international teamsMonitor portfolio performance and support business developmentAssist with training and mentoring colleaguesStay updated on market trends and compliance requirementsSKILLSStrong analytical and decision-making skillsHigh attention to detail and accuracyProficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Team player with strong interpersonal skillsAble to prioritise, multitask, and perform under pressureProactive, self-driven, and customer-focusedIf you have the relevant experience or know someone that does please contact me now on 07458162859or email us at admin@lawesgroup.co.uk
