London Borough of Merton .Advert text: The South London Legal Partnership (SLLP) is the in-house legal service for the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames and the London Boroughs of Merton, Richmond upon Thames, Sutton and Wandsworth. SLLP is a high performing in-house shared legal service serving five local authorities with a staff of 150-160 and a turnover of about £14 million.We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic applicants, keen to develop their skills in a public sector environment. Limited local government experience is welcomed if you are determined to provide a top-class legal service.The role focuses on senior commercial property work within a public sector land holdings context, including development, sale, lease or other matters. You will provide advice on governance and all aspects of local authority land dealings. Ideally you should have a good understanding of local authority governance.Responsibilities

Handle commercial property matters relating to asset and portfolio management in a public sector land holdings context (development, sale, lease, etc.).Provide advice on governance and all aspects of local authority land dealings.Supervise up to 3 lawyers and contribute to a team environment.Qualifications and Skills

Excellent communication and drafting skills.Ability to provide legal advice to a variety of audiences, including senior officers and Members.Experience in supervising staff is desirable.Good understanding of local authority governance is preferred.Values and Environment
