Garage Assistant

Location: EH14 2TF
Hours of Work: Monday – Friday 36 hours per week
Pay Rate: £14.51 per hour
Temporary Ongoing – Immediate starts available


The Garage Assistant will support vehicle examiners and workshop teams by safely assisting with vehicle checks, helping operate vehicle controls during inspections, and maintaining a clean, organised workshop environment.

A UK drivers licence is required

• Assisting vehicle examiners during inspections by safely operating vehicle lights, steering and brakes when instructed
• Supporting checks across a range of vehicle types, including vehicles positioned on workshop ramps
• Working safely at slight height where vehicles are raised on ramps
• Communicating clearly with vehicle examiners, mechanics and other workshop colleagues
• Carrying out general housekeeping duties to keep the workshop area clean, safe and well-organised
• Helping prepare vehicles and equipment for inspection, maintenance or testing
• Reporting any visible issues, hazards or concerns to the appropriate team member
• Working both indoors and outdoors in a busy, professional garage environment
  
  Requirements:
   
• Confident following instructions and working safely around vehicles and workshop equipment
• Comfortable operating vehicle lights, steering and brakes when directed by a vehicle examiner
• Comfortable working at slight height while vehicles are positioned on ramps
• Good communication skills and a reliable, positive approach to teamwork
• An interest in motor vehicles and a basic understanding of how they operate would be an advantage
