Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Applications and Proposals Engineer to join client''s dynamic team. This role is pivotal in developing technical solutions and transforming inbound enquiries into technically sound and commercially robust proposals. Responsibilities

As an Applications and Proposals Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:



Enquiry Ownership

  • Managing inbound enquiries from receipt to quotation.
  • Reviewing specifications, drawings, and customer requirements to identify gaps and risks.
  • Collaborating with sales engineers and customers to clarify project scope.


Technical Solution Development

  • Performing acoustic and airflow/ventilation calculations to define compliant solutions.
  • Selecting and configuring products based on performance, manufacturability, and cost.
  • Making sound engineering judgments when specifications are incomplete or ambiguous.


Costing & Proposal Delivery

  • Building accurate cost estimates using internal tools, historical data, and supplier input.
  • Producing clear, professional technical and commercial proposals.
  • Ensuring proposals meet margin expectations and align with business guidelines.


Internal Coordination

  • Working closely with engineering, design, and supply chain teams to validate solutions.
  • Engaging suppliers to support pricing, lead times, and feasibility.
  • Contributing to the development and refinement of costing tools and pricing structures.


Customer & Sales Interface

  • Supporting sales managers in progressing and closing opportunities.
  • Participating in technical discussions with customers as required.
  • Managing and responding to enquiries for spares and replacement parts.


Order Handover

  • Ensuring all technical and commercial assumptions are clearly defined at the order stage.
  • Supporting a smooth handover into project delivery, minimising rework and risk.


Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • 5-10 years'' experience in an applications, proposals, or technical sales engineering role.
  • Background in capital equipment, HVAC, air movement, power generation, or similar engineered products.
  • Proven experience preparing technical quotations and proposals for engineered-to-order products.
  • Familiarity with customer specifications and tender documents.
  • Understanding of acoustics and industrial noise control principles is preferable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and exposure to CRM systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and CAD drawings.


Day-to-Day

Your daily activities will include:

  • Reviewing and managing incoming enquiries.
  • Developing technical solutions and performing engineering calculations.
  • Preparing and delivering accurate and professional proposals.
  • Collaborating with internal teams and suppliers to validate solutions.
  • Supporting sales managers in customer interactions and order progression.
  • Ensuring a seamless handover of orders to the project delivery team.
