About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced Section Engineer (Earthworks & Drainage) to join our delivery team on the HS2 project in Buckinghamshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on one of the UK’s most ambitious infrastructure programmes, supporting the successful delivery of major earthworks and drainage packages within a high-performing engineering team.

• Lead and manage the engineering aspects of earthworks and drainage works, including bulk earthworks, cut & fill, and formation

• Oversee drainage works, including deep drainage, culverts, and attenuation systems

• Supervise Site Engineers and subcontractors to ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient delivery

• Ensure all works comply with design specifications, method statements, and ITPs

• Oversee setting out activities, QA documentation, and technical queries

• Coordinate with design, planning, and commercial teams to ensure programme alignment

• Support construction management with progress reporting, risk management, and problem-solving

• Maintain high standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance

• Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering

• Proven experience as a Section Engineer on major civil or infrastructure projects

• Strong background in earthworks and drainage – essential

• Excellent understanding of engineering standards, quality assurance, and health & safety

• Confident communicator with strong leadership and coordination skills

• Valid CSCS card and relevant safety certifications
