Pay: £110 - £130 -PAYE
Shift: 8.30 -4pm/Full-time
Contract: Temp to Perm contract
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and experienced PE HLTA or PE SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming SEND primary school in the Lambeth borough. This is a full-time position (8:30am – 4:00pm), with a focus on covering PE sessions and supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, and behavioural difficulties.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about inclusive education and looking to further their career—with the opportunity to gain QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) through support from the school.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be energetic, patient, and adaptable, with a strong commitment to supporting children with additional needs—particularly those with autism and associated social, emotional, and sensory differences.
You will:
- Lead PE sessions and, on most occasions, take responsibility for leading the class
- Remain flexible and confident working under the direction of a teacher when required, including line managing Teaching Assistants in the teacher’s absence
- Support pupils both in and out of the classroom, helping to create a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment
- Use effective behaviour management strategies to support positive outcomes
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of supporting autistic learners, including sensory needs and social communication
Key Responsibilities
- Providing consistent observations of pupils’ behaviour, engagement, and progress
- Recording and reporting on student development throughout the day
- Working closely with teachers and wider staff to adapt support strategies
- Supporting pupils with personal care needs as part of a collaborative team, always maintaining dignity and respect

Requirements
- HLTA qualification or experience or significant experience as a SEND Teaching Assistant
- Experience covering PE sessions,
- Experience supporting children with autism, ADHD, and behavioural needs
- Two professional or academic references
- A DBS certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through the agency
