Graduate Civil Engineer

Looking to start your career in civil engineering consultancy? Join an established practice where you can develop your design skills across a varied portfolio of development infrastructure projects, with support from experienced engineers.

Woods Hardwick is looking to recruit a Graduate Civil Engineer to join its Bedford team. You will work on residential and non-residential developments, supporting the design and delivery of infrastructure for private developers, national housebuilders and larger masterplanning schemes.

Working alongside experienced engineers, you will develop your technical skills across a range of civil engineering projects, including:

• Drainage network design and modelling using Flow.

• Road design and ground modelling using PDS.

• Preparing planning submission packages for outline, detailed and full applications.

• Supporting technical submissions for S38, S278 and S104 approvals.

• Producing groundworks packages for tender and construction.

• Undertaking private plot civil engineering design.

• A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

• An interest in developing a career in development infrastructure design.

• Good communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.

• An understanding of civil engineering design principles.

• Exposure to drainage design, road design or relevant software would be beneficial, but is not essential.

• An awareness of planning processes and Flood Risk Assessments would be advantageous.

Previous consultancy experience is not essential. Woods Hardwick is prepared to provide training and mentoring to help you develop your technical capability and progress professionally.
