Debt Recovery Officer
We are seeking a motivated and resilient Debt Recovery Officer to maximise rental income and reduce arrears across our housing portfolio. You will work closely with residents to prevent debt escalation, provide support and advice, and take appropriate recovery action in line with housing legislation and organisational policies. Key ResponsibilitiesManage rent arrears cases across a range of tenuresContact residents by phone, email, letter, and home visits to recover outstanding debtNegotiate and agree affordable repayment plansCarry out income and expenditure assessmentsPrevent arrears escalation through early intervention and tenancy supportPrepare cases for legal action, including Notices, PCOL claims, and court documentationRepresent the organisation at court where requiredSignpost residents to welfare benefits, debt advice, and support servicesMaintain accurate records using housing management systemsEnsure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and pre-action protocolsAbout YouExperience in housing income, rent arrears, or debt recoveryKnowledge of housing law, arrears recovery processes, and court proceduresStrong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage a caseload and work to performance targetsConfident dealing with challenging and sensitive situationsGood IT skills and experience using case management systemsIf you have the relevant skills then apply today!
