Homeownership Officer - Leasehold (Temp)
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Homeownership Officer (Leasehold) officer to join a busy Homeownership Services team. The postholder will play a key role in delivering statutory homeownership functions, including Right to Buy, leasehold sales, lease extensions, and related aftersales activity, ensuring compliance with legislation and internal policies.
The London based housing provider manages a large and diverse housing portfolio, including leasehold, shared ownership, and tenanted homes. The organisation is committed to delivering high-quality homeownership services, statutory compliance, and an excellent customer experience for residents.

Working Pattern: Hybrid
Rate: 22-23 PAYE per/hr
Key Responsibilities
Right to Buy (RTB)
- Progress RTB applications within statutory timescales
- Manage RTB valuations, including appeals
- Liaise with legal teams, valuers, and internal stakeholders
- Support promotion and engagement around homeownership opportunities
- Administer leasehold aftersales processes, including alterations and additional space sales
- Manage formal and voluntary lease extensions and freehold sales
- Respond to statutory notices within required timeframes
- Calculate apportionments for shared ownership and rent-to-mortgage cases
- Identify opportunities for buy-backs and revenue generation
- Provide specialist advice to leaseholders, tenants, councillors, solicitors, and colleagues
- Respond to complex enquiries, complaints, and correspondence
- Draft reports and briefings on legislation, policy changes, and performance
- Maintain accurate records, databases, and customer accounts
- Contribute to service improvement, process development, and best practice
- Support and deputise for the Team Leader when required
Essential
- Experience working in a homeownership, leasehold, or housing environment
- Strong understanding of Right to Buy and leasehold legislation
- Experience interpreting legal documents and statutory notices
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong customer focus, including handling challenging cases
- Confident working independently and remotely
- Experience within a local authority or housing association
- Knowledge of shared ownership and affordable housing models
- Housing qualification (CIH, IRPM) or working towards one
- Experience supporting service improvement or policy development
- Flexible and hybrid working arrangements
