Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with SEN, including those with PMLD.
  • Support sensory, communication, and physical development using specialist strategies and resources.
  • Collaborate closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and support staff to implement individualised learning programmes.
  • Create a safe, structured, and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress against EHCP targets and personalised learning outcomes.
  • Promote independence, communication, and life skills through a holistic curriculum.
  • Manage complex behaviours with patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement techniques.
  • Build strong, respectful relationships with parents, carers, and external professionals.
  • Contribute actively to the wider school community and the ongoing development of SEN provision.
Candidate Profile
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • Experience working in SEN settings, particularly with pupils with PMLD.
  • Strong understanding of EHCPs, sensory approaches, and communication methods such as PECS and Makaton.
  • Patient, adaptable, and resilient, with a compassionate and nurturing approach.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and continuous professional development.
  • Holds, or is willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS check and provide professional references.
