The Role

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher of History to join our successful Humanities department from September 2026.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging and academically rigorous History lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience. You will inspire students to develop a deep understanding of historical events, themes, and interpretations, while building strong analytical and evaluative skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach History across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable)
  • Deliver high-quality, well-planned lessons that develop historical knowledge and skills
  • Foster students’ ability to analyse sources, evaluate interpretations, and construct arguments
  • Use assessment effectively to track progress and inform teaching
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and resource development within Humanities
  • Support student intervention and exam preparation to ensure strong outcomes
  • Promote a love of History through enrichment and wider curriculum opportunities
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Strong subject knowledge in History
  • Ability to teach GCSE History confidently (A-Level desirable)
  • A passion for storytelling, critical thinking, and historical enquiry
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Commitment to the ethos and values of a Church of England school
  • A reflective and collaborative approach to teaching and professional growth
