What you’ll be doing:As a technical expert, you will get the opportunity to develop the next generation of Electronic Warfare (EW) systems across the engineering lifecycle, from requirements through to design, development and implementationThe successful candidate would be expected to provide technical leadership and expertise in the development of EW Systems for the FCAS and GCAP Programme. Main responsibilities will involve:Developing EW concepts, which meet the customer need / requirement, for the FCAS/GCAP system with international partners (Japan and Italy)Acting as the primary Mission Systems point of contact for EW Systems within the FCAS/GCAP Programme, providing oversight / technical leadership to supplier activities in this domain areaLiaising with the international MoDs to advise during the development of EW requirementsExecuting plans to deliver and undertake oversight / review of performance assessments of EW systems to support programme gate reviews, SRR and SFRProviding technical oversight to the development of the EW requirements set being modelled in an MBSE toolsetPlanning for and technical oversight / delivery of supplier activities to develop EW systems through to PDR / CDR maturityEW System Design / development with associated areas, including Mission Data, Through Life Support, Safety-Airworthiness, Security, RF Interoperation, Electro-Magnetic Engineering and TestPlanning and implementation for EW System Integration, simulation, synthetics and test
Your skills and experiences:EssentialExperience of working with EW and/or DASS and/or Radio Frequency (RF) systemsExperience of leading and managing engineering teamsDesirable:A degree in a STEM subject or equivalent relevant experienceSystems engineering and engineering lifecycle experienceKnowledge of systems engineering methods and tools (e.g. UML/SysML, MoDAF, MOOD, Matlab)Experience of developing mission systems and associated domain knowledgeAbility to work in a changing and evolving environmentInnovative approach to problem solvingAbility to work in a multi-partner / multi-national environmentHolding a UK driving licence (or working towards obtaining one)

We currently have vacancies for Lead Systems Engineers at our sites in Warton.You will be part of the Mission Systems Delivery Team (MSDT) delivering the Assessment Phase of the Future Combat Air System (FCAS) programme. The team uses an agile work planning process to develop mission system concept options, architectures and designs for the various components of a future combat air system.A vacancy exists for a Electronic Warfare (EW) Lead Engineer, who is responsible for the development and delivery of all EW Mission Systems Engineering activities as part of the FCAS programme.You may also be asked to support the Customers or our Industry Partners at one of their sites across the UK and there are opportunities for national and international travel.
