Role: Mechanical Assembler
Location: Hitchin, Hertfordshire
Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 3:00pm
Salary: £27,000 – £29,000 per annum
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Assembler to join a well-established engineering business in Hitchin. This is a hands-on role assembling mechanical components and equipment, with full in-house training and opportunities to develop specialist engineering skills.

Duties of a Mechanical Assembler:
- Assemble mechanical components and equipment used within industrial water treatment systems.
- Fit and connect pipes, pumps, valves, brackets, gauges and associated components.
- Use hand tools and power tools to complete mechanical assembly and fitting work.
- Position, align and secure components to ensure accurate assembly.
- Follow engineering drawings, technical information and instructions where required.
- Assist with the preparation and installation of mechanical systems and equipment.
- Identify and resolve basic assembly issues, escalating more complex problems where necessary.
- Work alongside the wider engineering team to meet quality and production requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.
What we would like from you:
- Previous experience in mechanical assembly, mechanical fitting, engineering, plumbing or a similar hands-on role.
- Confident using hand tools and power tools.
- A practical approach to building, fitting, connecting or assembling components.
- Good attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work.
- The ability to follow instructions and work safely within a workshop environment.
- Experience reading engineering drawings would be beneficial but is not essential, as training can be provided.
- Experience with pipework, pumps, valves, machinery or mechanical systems would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with ABS, PVC-U or other plastic pipework and fittings would be beneficial but is not essential.
- Previous experience within manufacturing, industrial engineering or water treatment would be an advantage.
- A willingness to learn, develop new skills and work as part of a team.
