CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist (Part Time)

Overview
Cygnet Hospital Sheffield, Sheffield, England. Part-time Consultant Psychiatrist (2.5 days per week) will work on Pegasus Ward, a 13-bed general adolescent acute service. The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician, oversee the care of ward inpatients, and audit medical services to ensure high quality care in line with GMC standards and other relevant professional guidelines.Responsibilities
Lead on the provision of high quality care to service users admitted to Pegasus WardAct as a positive role model and maintain a constructive attitude towards patients, families, visitors and staffTake overall responsibility for patient treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary teamAssess referrals and undertake mental state examinations of service usersUndertake appropriate investigations, diagnosis and treatmentConduct ward rounds, patient reviews and clinical auditsLead the implementation of risk assessment, risk management and embed clinical governance within the serviceSupervise reports for Mental Health Act tribunals and managers’ hearings and attend hearingsLiaise with the Ministry of Justice for transfer of patients and approval of leave as requiredMaintain patient records accuratelyEnsure regular communications with the Site Medical Director and Hospital ManagerCommunicate effectively with patients, relatives, staff, directors and other concerned bodies; maintain appropriate reportsAttend and contribute to academic meetings and adhere to professional standards for CPD as set out by the GMC, Department of Health and Royal College of PsychiatristsContribute to the Telephone On-call rotaQualifications
Fully GMC registered and MBBS (or equivalent)Registered on the specialist register (CCT/CESR), Section 12 and AC StatusExperience and knowledge in Child and Adolescent Mental Health and mental health diagnosisKnowledge of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, and the Mental Capacity Act 2005Excellent communication skills; ability to interview, assess and treat patients and write clear medical notesCommitted to continuing professional developmentAble to work as part of a multi-disciplinary teamMember of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalentBenefits
