An established and expanding UK manufacturer is looking to appoint a National Account Manager to take ownership of a portfolio of major retail accounts.

This is an excellent opportunity for somebody who enjoys the relationship-building and commercial development side of account management. The business already has long-standing relationships with some of the UK's biggest retailers, so this isn't a role centred around cold calling or constantly chasing new customers.

Instead, you'll be given an established portfolio of high-profile accounts to develop, becoming a trusted point of contact and identifying further opportunities within customers that already buy from the business.

The Role

• Take ownership of a portfolio of major national retail accounts
• Build and maintain strong relationships with buyers and key customer contacts
• Become the main day-to-day commercial contact for your customers
• Conduct account reviews and regular customer meetings
• Identify opportunities to grow revenue across existing accounts
• Manage customer queries and ensure issues are dealt with quickly and professionally
• Work closely with sales, operations, technical and other internal departments
• Navigate retailer portals and customer systems
• Develop a strong understanding of each customer's requirements and commercial opportunities
• Attend occasional customer meetings around the UK when required

The position is predominantly office based, with much of the customer interaction conducted remotely and only occasional travel required.

What We're Looking For

We're interested in speaking with commercially minded account managers who know how to build strong, long-term customer relationships.

Experience managing supermarket, grocery or major retail accounts would be particularly attractive, ideally gained within food, FMCG, consumer goods or a related manufacturing environment.

You could currently be a National Account Manager, National Account Executive, Key Account Manager, Customer Business Manager, Commercial Account Manager or an Account Manager ready to take the next step.

Specific product experience isn't essential. The priority is finding somebody who understands major retail customers, relationship-led account management and how to develop existing business.

Experience using retailer portals would also be advantageous.
