Electrical Design Engineer – ManchesterFourblue have teamed up with a well-established utility contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, sustainable infrastructure solutions across the UK. With a proven track record in electricity, gas, water, and multi-utility projects, they pride themselves on combining technical expertise with a customer-focused approach. Due to continued growth, they are now seeking an ICP Electrical Designer to join their expanding design team.In this role, you will be responsible for producing quotations, developing adoptable designs, and securing design approvals for projects ranging from low voltage up to 11kV/20kV. This position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of challenging and rewarding projects, collaborating with stakeholders across the industry to deliver safe, cost-effective, and efficient design solutions.Responsibilities

Designing adoptable networks from low voltage up to and including 11kV/20kVProducing calculations using WinDebut softwareSpecifying substation switchgear and associated equipmentAssessing and reviewing substation earthing designsPreparing and submitting design documents in line with DNO/IDNO/ENA G81 standardsSupporting the assessment of EV schemes to CPO requirementsProducing design plans and single line diagrams using AutoCADCoordinating land rights activities and tracking progressSupporting both design and construction teams with technical inputLiaising with clients, CPOs, DNOs, IDNOs, and other external stakeholdersManaging design handovers to the construction departmentMaintaining accurate technical data, design trackers, and business systemsAttending client and internal meetings when requiredDelivering cost-effective outline designs for tendering purposes and ensuring prompt DNO approvalsManaging projects from mobilisation through to completion within budget and agreed timescalesQualifications

HNC/HND in electrical engineering or equivalent experienceStrong knowledge of ENA Engineering Recommendation G81 and related standardsProficiency in WinDebut softwareKnowledge of substation earthing assessments (formal software training beneficial but not essential)Familiarity with AutoCAD preferredJob details
