Medical Secretary

The Histology Department of Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services, based at Frimley Park Hospital, is seeking a motivated, well-organised, and methodical individual to join our dedicated administration team. This role will provide essential secretarial and administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the department and delivery of a high-quality service.You will play a key part in supporting the team to meet national histology turnaround times, using your strong organisational skills to manage competing priorities effectively. The successful candidate will be flexible, proactive, and confident in using their initiative to maintain efficiency within a busy and fast-paced environment.Main duties of the job
Your main duties will involve audio typing of histology reports, dealing with a variety of administration tasks, and assisting the Consultant Histopathologists.Experience of Medical terminology, especially pathological terminology, will be an advantage but full training will be given to the successful candidate.Working for our organisation

Responsible for the production of histology reports by audio typing to meet departmental and national turnaround times.Manage own workload, demonstrate efficient organisation and oversee the smooth effective operation of the office.To work autonomously within a team; providing full organisational support to the consultant’s and their team.To ensure procedures and working practices are in place so that the specialtyTrust can deliver a service that meets the standards and targets that have been set.To provide a considerate, patient focused service in all dealings with staff around the hospital and throughout the whole system.The department provides a service for Surrey Pathology Services across all sites.Person specification
Experience
Broad knowledge of medical terminology, acquired through previous job experienceExperience of working in a large, complex organisation and a multi-disciplinary environmentExperience of using patient administration systemsExperience of mentoring, training or supervising othersWorking knowledge of a range of software packages e.g. MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint and other locally used databases e.g. Pathology Laboratory information system (WinPath) or similarSkills and Knowledge
