Quantity Surveyor
An established, privately owned Main Contractor based in Leicestershire is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its growing commercial team.
Delivering projects across the healthcare, commercial and education sectors, the business undertakes schemes ranging from -50,000 to -6.5 million, across both Design & Build and pre-designed arrangements.

The Role
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing the commercial delivery of multiple projects from inception through to completion. Working across refurbishment and new-build schemes, you will oversee financial performance, subcontractor procurement, cost management and commercial reporting, ensuring projects are delivered within budget and in line with client expectations.
The role would suit a proactive and commercially minded Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in traditional main contracting, excellent subcontractor management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects independently.
Due to the nationwide nature of the business, travel and occasional overnight stays may be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the commercial performance of multiple projects from inception to completion.
- Lead subcontractor and supplier procurement, including re-tendering and negotiations.
- Monitor labour and material expenditure against approved budgets.
- Prepare monthly Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) reports.
- Prepare and submit monthly client valuations, maximising cash flow.
- Review, assess and certify subcontractor payment applications.
- Maintain positive project cash flow and monitor commercial performance.
- Negotiate and agree client and subcontractor final accounts.
- Identify and manage commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and agree extension of time, loss and expense claims.
- Manage variations and change control processes.
- Complete commercial administration and reporting requirements.
Education, skills and experience:
- BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying & Construction Management / Equivalent related construction qualification
- Minimum 5 years'' experience working for a Main Contractor at Project QS level.
- Strong experience delivering refurbishment and new-build projects.
- Experience working within a traditional main contracting environment.
- Competent knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts.
- Strong M&E knowledge above the typical level expected of a Quantity Surveyor.
- Thorough understanding of commercial financial reporting processes.
- Strong time management, negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively under pressure.
- Willingness to travel nationwide, including occasional overnight stays.
- Enhanced DBS clearance (to be obtained by the company during onboarding).
- Excellent IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office.
