The Role
This is a commercially focused buying role responsible for managing assigned commodities and suppliers, supporting the delivery of the company's purchasing strategy, and achieving cost, quality, delivery, and service objectives. You will develop sourcing strategies, lead supplier negotiations, drive cost reduction initiatives, and work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to support new product development and strategic sourcing opportunities within a fast-paced global manufacturing environment.

Hours: Mon–Thurs 08:00–16:30 | Fri 08:30–13:30

Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong supplier and stakeholder relationships, ensuring high levels of service and effective communication across the business.
- Lead supplier negotiations to achieve best value across cost, quality, delivery, and service, including pricing, commercial terms, and contracts.
- Take ownership of assigned commodities and suppliers, developing sourcing strategies that support business growth, cost competitiveness, and supply chain resilience.
- Identify and implement cost reduction and value improvement opportunities, working closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to deliver measurable savings.
- Source, evaluate, and develop new suppliers to maintain a competitive, capable, and resilient supply base.
- Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to support new product introductions, engineering changes, outsourcing activities, and strategic sourcing projects.
- Monitor supplier performance across cost, quality, delivery, and service, driving corrective actions and continuous improvement where required.
- Support continuity of supply and proactively manage potential supply chain risks across assigned commodities.
- Contribute to the execution and ongoing development of the company's purchasing strategy.
Skills & Experience Required
- 5+ years' experience working as a Buyer, ideally within a manufacturing or engineering environment with experience in direct procurement.
- Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, category management, or strategic sourcing, with a proven track record of delivering commercial results.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills, with the ability to achieve measurable cost reductions and value improvements.
- Confident relationship builder with the ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels of an organisation, including senior stakeholders and suppliers.
- Experience managing supplier performance across cost, quality, delivery, and service, including driving corrective and continuous improvement activity.
- Commercially focused, with the ability to understand cost drivers and identify opportunities to improve total cost and supply chain resilience.
- Strong cross-functional working experience, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and other internal teams.
- A self-starter with a can-do attitude, high levels of motivation, and the confidence to make decisions and respond effectively to changing priorities.
- CIPS qualified, working towards CIPS, or equivalent relevant purchasing experience preferred.
