In House VAT Accountant – Warrington – c£45,000 + Benefits – Hybrid  (3 days office / 2 days home)

We are seeking a VAT Accountant to work with a growing and acquisitive business based in Warrington.

Reporting directly to the Head of Tax, this is a varied opportunity offering exposure to VAT, indirect taxes, duties, corporation tax and wider tax compliance.

The role would suit either a tax professional with VAT experience or an accountant with strong technical accounting skills and some exposure to VAT or tax who is keen to develop their expertise.

The Role :

• Prepare and submit accurate and timely VAT returns.
• Support compliance across indirect taxes, fuel duties and other tax obligations.
• Review and improve tax processes, reporting and financial controls.
• Analyse transactional data to ensure compliance with HMRC requirements.
• Support corporation tax reporting and liaise with external advisers.
• Identify and manage tax compliance risks.
• Provide practical tax advice and guidance to colleagues across the business.
• Support the Head of Tax with projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Person :

• Qualified, qualified by experience or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or tax professional (ATT, CTA).
• Experience in VAT or indirect tax, or a strong accounting background with some VAT / tax knowledge.
• CIS knowledge would be an advantage.
• Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Good Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
• Ability to identify improvements in processes and controls.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders across the business.
• A proactive approach with a willingness to develop broader tax expertise.
