About the Role

You''ll join a further education provider to deliver motor vehicle programmes, bringing your hands-on trade experience into the classroom and workshop to help learners build the practical skills and knowledge they need for a career in the sector.

No previous teaching experience is needed. If you have a strong background in motor vehicle maintenance, repair or a related trade, you''ll be supported to develop as a teacher through mentoring and access to a teaching qualification.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Planning and delivering engaging practical and theory sessions across motor vehicle qualifications.

• Assessing learner progress and providing constructive feedback to support achievement.

• Preparing learners for industry-recognised assessments and examinations.

• Maintaining a safe, well-organised workshop environment in line with health and safety requirements.

• Keeping up to date with developments in automotive technology and incorporating these into teaching.

What We''re Looking For

Essential:

• Substantial industry experience in motor vehicle maintenance, repair or a related trade

• A relevant vocational qualification in motor vehicle studies (such as a Level 3 qualification)

• Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate and engage learners

• A commitment to safe working practices in a workshop environment

Desirable (but not essential):

• A teaching qualification (such as a PGCE, DET or PTLLS), or a willingness to work towards one

• Experience assessing learners against vocational standards

• Up-to-date knowledge of current automotive technology and industry practice
