Vehicle TechnicianAnnual Salary: Scale 6 - SO1Location: Council workshop base with travel to other council sites as requiredJob Type: Full-timeJoin our team as a Vehicle Technician and provide high-quality, efficient, and customer-focused vehicle inspection, servicing, maintenance, and repair services across the Council''s fleet. This role is ideal for someone looking to grow their career, offering progression as skills and experience develop.Day-to-day of the role:Undertake servicing, repairs, and safety inspections of vehicles and equipment, including electric and hybrid vehicles.Diagnose faults and carry out repairs in line with manufacturer guidelines.Perform MOT testing for Class IV, V, and VII vehicles and taxi compliance testing.Participate in out-of-hours operations, including roadside checks.Respond to breakdowns, collisions, and urgent operational demands.Maintain accurate documentation and electronic records of all work performed.Ensure workshop areas, tools, and equipment are maintained to a high standard.Provide training and support to other staff as required.Required Skills and Qualifications:City and Guilds Motor Vehicle Technician Certificate or NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent).Full UK driving licence (Category B held for a minimum of 2 years).Experience servicing and repairing motor vehicles, including HGVs, light commercial vehicles, and cars.Good knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and the ability to use diagnostic equipment.Strong organisational and adminis
