About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a growing and well-established construction business delivering projects across Design & Build, Groundworks, Civil Engineering, Brickwork, and General Construction sectors.
With a strong pipeline of secured work and continued business growth, this role offers the opportunity to become a key member of the commercial team, supporting the successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects while contributing to the ongoing success of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Management
- Manage the commercial aspects of projects from contract award through to final account.
- Monitor project costs, forecasts, budgets, and profitability throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and submit accurate monthly valuations and commercial reports.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and operational teams.
- Work closely with project managers and site teams to achieve commercial objectives.
- Support project delivery through proactive communication and timely reporting.
- Lead the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers.
- Negotiate and administer subcontract agreements.
- Manage subcontractor valuations, payments, and final accounts to achieve best value and commercial performance.
- Identify, value, and manage project variations.
- Maintain accurate records and change registers.
- Ensure commercial opportunities and risks are identified, monitored, and effectively managed.
- Administer contracts in accordance with project requirements and company procedures.
- Monitor commercial risks and opportunities, providing timely recommendations to project stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and internal standards.
- Prepare cost forecasts, cash flow reports, and project performance reviews.
- Provide accurate financial information to support effective business planning and decision-making.
- Assist with final account negotiations and project close-out activities.
- Work collaboratively with commercial and operational teams to achieve successful project outcomes.
- Support and mentor junior team members where required.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of commercial processes, systems, and best practices.
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, groundworks, civil engineering, infrastructure, or design & build environments.
- Strong commercial awareness and contractual knowledge.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- A proactive, organised, and collaborative approach to project delivery.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality outcomes.
